KidRio

In the early days of the internet, when AOL was the primary option for internet access (~1995), AOL's founder Steve Case  wrote and entire chapter in the "AOL Handbook" on the importance of selecting a proper name for your email address. That's right;  An entire chapter! (Steve's email "handle," by the way, was a nod to David Bowie. He chose Major Tom, as in; majortom@aol.com). After reading the chapter (yes, I actually read it), I set about making a decision on what my email address should be.  Given that Mr. Case had written an entire chapter on the subject, I proceeded to give it careful thought.

 So after a day or two, I came up with KidRio. 

And this is how I came about it; One of my favorite westerns is "One-Eyed Jacks"; And at the very top of my favorite actors, stands Marlon Brando, the star of "One-Eyed Jacks". In the movie, "Dad" Longworth (played by Karl Malden), referred to the character played by Brando as "Kid". But his real name was "Rio".

Alas, my AOL email address vanished into the internet ether decade's ago, along with Netscape, Internet explorer, and all the rest;
But the resulting portmanteau it inspired, it pleases me to report, carries on in this website.
